The Democratic National Committee urged supporters Saturday afternoon to vote for Democrats in next year's congressional elections to prevent Republicans from impeaching President Barack Obama.

“Show these Republicans that they are way, way off-base, and give President Obama a Congress that has his back,” the committee said in an email blast to Obama for America supporters, The Daily Caller reports.

“What do these people all have in common?” the email asked, before listing quotes from Republicans Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, Rep. Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan, and Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas that mentioned impeachment.

The GOP remarks discussed the possibility of impeaching Obama for various instances of misconduct while in office.

Referring to the “I-Word,” the email noted that “Republicans are actually excited about the idea,” The Daily Caller said.

The email noted that Democrats needed to win 17 House seats to take back the majority, which the party lost in the 2010 elections. It  urged supporters to contribute to the DNC's 2014 efforts.

Republicans have relentlessly attacked Obama throughout the year on scandals including the deaths of four Americans at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, the botched Obamacare rollout , the special screening of tea party, conservative and religious groups by the IRS in their applications for tax-exempt status, and Obama's refusal to negotiate with Congress on various budget issues throughout the year.

The DNC also backed former President Bill Clinton during his impeachment proceedings by the House in 1988, The Daily Caller reports.
